Shopify Developer (Full Stack)
We are looking for a Shopify Developer (Full Stack) who can deliver themes, custom apps, and platform customisations on Shopify and Shopify Plus — including headless and Storefront API work where required. You will own Liquid theme delivery, Shopify app development (Remix / Node), checkout extensions, integrations, and performance, while collaborating on Vyomco's headless commerce and open source initiatives.
Job description
Key responsibilities
- Build and customise Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes using Liquid, JSON templates, and section schema
- Develop custom Shopify apps — admin UI, app extensions, webhooks, and OAuth installation flows
- Build Shopify Functions, checkout UI extensions, and Plus customisations within platform guidelines
- Implement app integrations, metafields, metaobjects, and third-party API connections
- Own theme and app architecture — reusable patterns, settings schema, and maintainable code
- Optimise Core Web Vitals, theme performance, lazy loading, and mobile UX on live merchant stores
- Execute platform migrations and replatforming with SEO and data integrity in mind
- Configure B2B, wholesale, subscriptions, and Markets setups where projects require them
- Support headless storefront builds using Storefront API, Hydrogen, or React / Next.js frontends
- Collaborate on open source Shopify tooling, theme utilities, or developer resources
- Collaborate with designers, PMs, marketers, and QA on launches and retainers
- Debug theme, app, checkout, and third-party script issues on production stores
- Conduct code reviews, document technical decisions, and hand over clean, maintainable code
- Support client communication on scope, timelines, and Shopify platform constraints
- Stay current on Shopify changelog, App Bridge, GraphQL Admin API, and Partner Dashboard
Core requirements
- 2+ years hands-on Shopify development — themes (Liquid) and/or custom apps (JavaScript / TypeScript)
- Experience with Shopify Admin, theme editor, app ecosystem, and merchant workflows
- Ability to build or extend Shopify apps using Remix, Node.js, or Shopify's app frameworks
- Solid frontend fundamentals — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive layout, and browser debugging
- Experience with Shopify GraphQL Admin API, REST API, webhooks, and authentication patterns
- Familiarity with Git, pull requests, code reviews, and agency or client project workflows
- Understanding of ecommerce UX — PDP, collection, cart, checkout, and app admin flows
- Familiarity with performance optimisation and SEO-friendly theme markup
- Clear written and verbal communication with internal teams and clients
- BE / B.Tech / M.Tech / MCA
- Comfort with hybrid, remote, full-time, or part-time engagement
Architecture & Advanced Skills
- Shopify Plus — checkout extensibility, B2B, expansion stores, and Flow automations
- Custom app architecture — embedded apps, theme app extensions, and billing API usage
- REST / GraphQL Admin API and Storefront API for custom data and headless-adjacent work
- Performance profiling — render-blocking assets, app bloat, and third-party script management
- Structured data, schema markup, and international / multi-market patterns
- App submission, review guidelines, and Partner Dashboard deployment workflows
Preferred / nice to have
- Shopify Plus, enterprise, or high-traffic store experience
- Published Shopify apps on the App Store or private/custom app portfolio
- Hydrogen, headless, or Remix full-stack app experience
- CRO and A/B testing tool integrations (Intelligems, VWO, or similar)
- AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot, Claude) for faster delivery
